Area of Operation
Area of Operation Details
Our “most drilled but least explored” basin has been receiving a fresh look. After more than a century, the Appalachian Basin still contains at least as much oil and natural gas as has been produced to date. Estimates of remaining recoverable resources continue to increase. The majority of remaining hydrocarbon resources in the basin exists in unconventional settings (i.e. – coal seams, Devonian-age shales, and low-permeability (tight) sands), in addition to previously untapped deeper formations. In the future, the basin could also provide additional hydrocarbon resources from oil sands and oil shale. With its large untapped oil and gas resource potential and proximity to major markets, the Appalachian Basin is positioned for an important role in increasing America’s energy security and economic future.
New resource plays (primarily the Marcellus and Utica Shales) have attracted heightened interest in exploration and production in the region. Applying new technology and concepts is resulting in a wide range of new activities in the basin. Pin Oak Energy is on the forefront of these activities and is poised to benefit from these opportunities.
